Accessibility

Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Restaurant is committed to providing an appropriate service for prospective guests with disabilities and mobility limitations.

All public facilities are on the ground floor with full disabled access, including a dedicated disabled toilet with wheelchair access. The hotel has 59 bedrooms including 4 suites and 2 luxury lodges.  There are 8 on the ground floor in The Courtyard, including 1 with full disabled facilities and all with parking at the door.

We welcome enquiries from guests with limitations or disabilities, so we can discuss their specific requirements and make all reasonable attempts to assist.

Car Parking

  • Tarmac car park, all on one level and well marked out
  • Free parking for approx 140 cars with 7 ground floor rooms and the disabled room having parking at the door
  • Drop off point and three spaces reserved for guests with disabilities located as close as possible to the entrance
  • Car park covered by CCTV and well lit

Main Entrance & Reception

  • Slight slope made from York stone rising to the front door which opens inwards
  • Door bell should assistance be required
  • Door frame is 115cm wide
  • Main entrance foyer and reception area are carpeted
  • Reception desk is 96cm high and one of the low coffee tables in the reception area may be used to complete registration details if more convenient
  • Reception area is lit with natural daylight and spotlights
  • Reception is manned 24 hours

Public Areas

  • Public areas are all ground floor and on one level
  • Comfortable lounge area with seating at varying heights
  • Public areas are carpeted

Toilets

  • Ladies & Gents toilets are centrally located
  • Disabled toilet with wheelchair access is centrally located
  • All toilet facilities have wood or tiled floors

Restaurant

  • Restaurant is on the same ground level as reception and public areas
  • Restaurant is carpeted
  • All furniture is movable
  • Menus available in larger print on request
  • All service in the Restaurant is table service with the exception of Continental breakfast, which is available from a buffet, but can be served to the table on request

Bar & Bistro

  • Bar and Bistro are on the same level as reception, restaurant and public areas
  • Bar and Bistro are a combination of carpet and wooden floor
  • Ample seating of differing heights and majority of furniture movable
  • Menus available in larger print on request
  • Table service is available all day and evening

Conference & Function Suites

  • All suites are on one level on the ground floor, with the exception of the Bell Room on the first floor
  • Access door for the Nielsen Suite is 84cm wide
  • Access door for the Bradgate Suite is 107cm wide
  • Ladies & gents toilets specifically for the Bradgate & Wiseton lead directly from the suites
  • Ladies & gents toilets specifically for the Nielsen & Levack lead directly from the suites
  • Disabled toilet facility with full wheelchair access is centrally located in the hotel
  • Bradgate & Wiseton Suites open directly into the garden, which is mainly laid to lawn with brick and stone paths and terrace
  • There is a slight slope from the Wiseton Suite to the garden
  • Nielsen & Levack Suites have direct disabled access from the car park

Bedrooms

  • There are 8 ground floor rooms, one with full disabled facilities, alarms and wet room
  • Remainder of the rooms are on the first and second floors, but there is no lift
  • A good mix of bathrooms, some having power shower over bath, some with freestanding power showers and separate baths
  • All have direct dial telephones and free internet access
  • All have remote control flatscreen TVs
  • All have natural daylight plus ceiling spotlights and bedside lamps
  • Some rooms have more space for easy mobility than others - please discuss your requirements at time of reservation

General

  • Luggage assistance is available at all times
  • Assistance dogs are welcome in all areas
  • The hotel is fitted with smoke detectors in all bedrooms and public areas
  • The hotel is fitted throughout with a fire alarm, which is audible only, and tested each Thursday at 11am
  • The main fire escape is situated on the exterior of the building
  • All fire exits and fire assembly points are clearly marked
  • Emergency procedures are posted in each bedroom and in the guest compendium
  • If you would like assistance in the event of an emergency, please notify Reception when checking in and tick the box on your Registration Card
  • All emergency information can be communicated verbally on request
