They say you learn something new every day. Like the fact that your skin is the body’s largest organ and sheds between 30,000 to 40,000 dead cells every minute. Fascinating stuff, right? But with that being said, how much do you actually know about your skin? 

We’re told from a young age about the importance of slathering on the factor 50 during summer and using toothpaste to dry out unwanted pimples. And whilst these are great, there’s a lot more we could be doing to nourish our skin and preserve its youthfulness – without spending a fortune on products that make false promises to banish wrinkles or tighten under-eye bags.

Why do we need to look after our skin?

While most of us patiently wait for the sun to come out so we can soak up some much-needed vitamin D, catch a tan and wave goodbye to the winter blues, there is a drawback.

Drink water

Take a moment to put those skincare products aside (we’ll come back to those later), and head into your kitchen for one of the best natural skin remedies - water.  

As well as its hydrating benefits, water helps to flush unwanted toxins from your body and balances your pH levels to improve the health, elasticity and anti-ageing properties of your skin - it’s also the perfect way to improve holistic health. 

 Along with the recommended 6-8 glasses of water a day, eating a healthy balanced diet will do wonders for your complexion, skin health and energy levels.

Many of us live such busy lives it can seem almost impossible to find the time to relax. However, putting just 10 minutes aside each day for mindful meditation and relaxation can reduce your stress levels and improve your skin.
