Christmas Residential Break
Celebrate a 'Traditional Christmas Past' with Us!
Christmas at Ye Olde Bell is like stepping into your own traditional country house! Our 360-year old hotel, an original stagecoaching inn, has been passionately restored by our local owners and is now ‘Four Star & Fabulous’ throughout! Plush carpets, luxurious drapes in an array of rich silks and damasks, antiques and period features are complemented with contemporary luxuries such as flatscreen TVs, power showers and fluffy duvets! Each of our 49 bedrooms and stunning suites are quite individual in style ranging from elegant high rooms to pretty ‘cottage’ style rooms with leaded dormer windows! All have stylish bathrooms with walk-in power showers and several also have romantic claw-footed roll top baths!
We decorate the tree, make the stuffing and wrap the presents whilst you simply relax on comfy leather sofas by roaring log fires with the aroma of mulled wine to add to the seasonal ambience! We’ll spoil you with homemade cream scones from the moment you arrive to a superb Full English Breakfast before you leave – with everything and more in between!
So come and celebrate with us – whether it be on your own or with family and friends, there’s nowhere quite like Ye Olde Bell, we’ll make you feel very welcome and know you will have a truly memorable time!
A truly traditional 'country house' Christmas!
Christmas Eve - Friday 24 December 2010
After checking into your superb individually styled room, unwind and meet your fellow guests in front of crackling log fires in the St Leger Bar or the lounge with tea and homemade cream scones from 4pm.
Celebrations begin with a 4-course Candlelit Dinner in the Neilsen Suite from 7pm and then it’s time to get your thinking caps on for our festive quiz – a round of drinks awaits the winning team! We’ve been working all year on the questions, so it won’t be easy!
Details of local Church services, including the delightful Chapel set in the Clumber Park Estate, will be available for those who wish to attend this evening or tomorrow.
The scene is set for a memorable Christmas at Ye Olde Bell, so off to bed to wait for Santa!
Christmas Day – Saturday 25 December 2010
Festive excitement will ensure an early start on Christmas Morning with Full English Breakfast served from 8am.
Spend a leisurely morning with family and friends, go to one of the local Church services - or for the energetic, take a brisk walk or a cycle ride in Clumber Park, the nearby National Trust treasure.
Traditional Christmas Lunch will be served at 12.30pm with roast turkey and all the trimmings – with a special delivery from Santa Claus! Around 5pm in the lounge we’ll be serving tea and Christmas cake – so don’t forget to guess the weight before it’s cut!
Then enjoy a relaxing evening by a roaring fire playing parlour games with a light buffet served at 7pm.
Boxing Day – Sunday 26 December 2010
After a hearty Full English Breakfast, why not take a short drive into Retford to see the spectacle of our local Grove & Rufford Hunt set off over the Nottinghamshire countryside for the traditional Boxing Day meet or explore the local area?
A light lunch of homemade soup and sandwiches will be served at 12 noon and then the coach arrives to whisk you off to historic Nottingham to find Stephen Mulhearn as Aladdin – rather than Robin Hood!
The coach will return to the hotel in good time for our Boxing Day Buffet in the Neilsen Suite from 8pm with light musical entertainment.
