We’re celebrating too this festive season, as we’ve recently been awarded Four Shining Stars by the AA for the first time in our 360-year history!
We’re also very proud of the total restoration of this wonderful 17th century coaching inn – every bedroom and suite has been individually styled and there’s now the grand black and gold elegance of Restaurant 1650, the rich ambience of St Leger Bistro-by-the-Bar, comfy leather sofas by crackling log fires in the lounges and the aroma of mulled wine to add to the seasonal ambience!

We decorate the tree, make the stuffing and wrap the presents, so come and enjoy a truly traditional Christmas in our wonderful 17th century coaching inn now fully restored to its former glory!
After checking into your superb individually styled room, unwind and meet your fellow guests in front of roaring log fires, either in the St Leger Bar or the lounge, with tea and homemade cream scones served from 4pm.
In the evening, we’ll be serving a delicious hot buffet in the Neilsen Suite from 7pm and then it’s time to get your thinking caps on for our festive quiz – a round of drinks awaits the winning team! We’ve been working all year on the questions, so it won’t be easy!
Details of local Church services will be available for those who wish to attend this evening or tomorrow.
The scene is set for a memorable Christmas at Ye Olde Bell, so off to bed to wait for Santa!
Friday 25 December 2009 – Christmas Day
Festive excitement will ensure an early start on Christmas Morning with Full English Breakfast served from 8am.
Spend a leisurely morning with family and friends, go to one of the local Churches or for the energetic, take a brisk walk in Clumber Park, the nearby National Trust treasure.
Traditional Christmas Lunch will be served at 12.30pm with roast turkey and all the trimmings – plus a special visit from Santa Claus!
Make sure you guess the weight of the Christmas cake before it is cut and served with a reviving cup of tea around 5pm.
Then enjoy a relaxing evening playing parlour games and a light buffet served at 7pm.
Saturday 26 December 2009 – Boxing Day
After a hearty Full English Breakfast, why not take a short drive into Retford to see the spectacle of our local Grove & Rufford Hunt set off over the Nottinghamshire countryside for the traditional Boxing Day meet?
A light lunch of homemade soup and sandwiches will be served at 12 noon and then the coach arrives to whisk you off to historic Nottingham to see Jack & The Beanstalk – rather than Robin Hood! Nigel Havers stars as Fleshcreep!
The coach will return to the hotel in good time for our Boxing Day Gala Ceilidh with ‘Pinch o’ Snuff’ ensuring you ‘dosy-doe’ through the evening!
